A WRINKLE IN TIME
Adapted by James Sie (after the novel by Madeleine L'Engle)
Directed by Elise Kauzlaric
Lifeline Theatre, Chicago, February 2017

Ever since her father vanished under mysterious circumstances, Meg Murry’s life has been spiraling out of control. But one dark and stormy night, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which appear and promise to help rescue him from the monstrous darkness that threatens the universe.

Soft tones and otherworldly chimes fill the space. As we follow Meg on Earth, we add traditional sounding woodwoods and strings. When we travel through the universe, the score shifts to a supernatural sound - from the organic tones of Uriel, to the gritty, electric buzz of Camazotz. Even tessering (traveling through time), with it's grinding rhythm and electric organ arpeggios, can seem a little nerve-wracking.
